Membership meetings normally bring out 45 people. We started getting concerned when RSVPs reached 60. then 80. They topped out at 98 members, an all time record. This was the first membership meeting since the November election, and it was clear that members had a lot on their mind and needed an outlet.
Sara Ryan from the Oregon Labor Candidate School talked about how she could help members run for public office. Executive Director Phil Lesch talked about how members are more willing to resist, and file grievances now then ever before. Jose Padin moderated a lively discussion about ways we could make the faculty voice known, and how to protect academic freedom in the new climate that seeks to shut it down.
Plan now to attend the Spring Membership meeting May 2, 2017. RSVP Now.
