Meet Emily Melgoza

My name is Emily Melgoza and I’m a Student Organization Advisor in Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP). I have been a proud PSU-AAUP member since I started working at Portland State almost four years ago.  I joined AAUP because I value what the union stands for and appreciate how they strive to protect and better our lives.  Growing up, I saw how my father’s union supported him and our family, and I trusted that my union would support me in the same way.  The security provided through the union enables me to focus on the important work of my advising role: empowering student learning, facilitating leadership development through coaching and mentoring, and supporting student success and retention.  I have volunteered with AAUP as a Unit Rep and currently serve on the Organizing Committee.  PSU-AAUP is a robust union of faculty and academic professionals who are committed to putting our students first!
