Introducing Karin Magaldi

My name is Karin Magaldi and I’m a professor of Theater in the School of Music & Theater. Since arriving at PSU, I have been a proud AAUP member, and in the past six years I have volunteered for our union as a Unit Representative. I was an adjunct for ten years at my previous institution and know the anxiety, insecurity, and tenuousness of term by term employment without union representation. I also have a friend who is tenured at another state institution without a union and her horror stories are sobering. I am so grateful that we have the AAUP at Portland State to advocate for us so that with their efforts to improve the workplace and working conditions, we can then focus on being the best teachers and support for our students.
