Members have been contacting us with complaints that their September paycheck was incorrect. We have interacted with HR about this and we have an explanation.
HR Advises:
"Due to September 16th falling on a weekend, there is one less working day in the month of September, therefore there will be one less day of pay this month for 9-month employees. This will be offset next June when there will be one additional day of pay. Fortunately the benefit to the employee is that the additional paid day will be after the February increase.
Members can cross-check the amount with the following formula (for those who are interested):
Where the 10/21 is the 2 weeks worked in September out of the 21 total workdays in the month.
June will be similar, but with 11/21 as the fraction, resulting in pay that is slightly more than 50%. "
If you have questions or you are not sure that this explains what appears to be a discrepancy, the personal who oversees payroll is Nathan Klinkhammer, nklink2@pdx.edu. Drop him a line and ask if he can confirm that your check is correct.
