The Collective Bargaining Team will continue its work over the summer period on the economic reopener.
In the past 2 sessions, active discussions have begun on:
- Expansion of the Staff Fee Privilege, which currently allows a discounted tuition rate for employees (or transfer of that privilege to a family member) at any of the Oregon Public Universities. Administration has expressed concerns about the “administrative burden” this expansion will cause. All the while, PSU-AAUP is pushing to have this resolved as quickly as possible to support members who may want to use this privilege in the fall.
- COLAs (cost-of-living adjustments). While we have started the process to discuss cost of living adjustments, our conversation is in the beginning stages. We anticipate the discussion will take some time, but wanted to start it early and get our interests out on the bargaining table. AAUP presented data regarding inflation compared to the meager 1% COLAs we have gotten during the first two years of this contract, as well as housing data highlighting the burden of rent and home purchases on our members.
The collective bargaining team is grateful for all the PSU-AAUP members who observed the sessions via Zoom - your presence does make a difference.
There are five more bargaining sessions scheduled between tomorrow and early August:
Friday, June 10, 11:00am - 3:00pm
Thursday, July 7, 10:00am - 4:00pm
