Workers and unions are demanding responses and changes in construction industry culture after another racist and violent incident. In May 2020, a noose was hung on the PSU/OHSU/PCC/City of Portland project in downtown Portland. Oregon Tradeswomen, Constructing Hope, and a wide range of community organizations, including labor unions, are demanding accountability, including nine concrete next steps from Anderson Construction and other involved actors. President Percy was copied in a public letter to Anderson Construction. PSU-AAUP supports our members’ rights to feel safe in their workspaces, and will be monitoring responses to the recent public letter.
