Join us to hear from Julie Schmid, Executive Director of National AAUP.
Political attacks on academic freedom and shared governance have devastating and lasting consequences for institutions of higher education. In Florida, Texas, and Ohio, we have seen that these attacks are often linked to attacks on public sector unions.
In states like Oregon, there is a unique opportunity for AAUP unions to work in solidarity with faculty senates and other unions on campus to push for both local and statewide policy changes that protect academic freedom and higher education as a public good.
Dr. Schmid will review the important, mutually reinforcing role that unions and shared governance structures play in building a bright future for students and communities served by higher education in this country.
