Last fall, a faculty member agreed to take on additional duties to support programs in their department. In a conversation with their Dean, they were promised an additional two months of pay as compensation for the extra duties. They followed up with the Dean several times, both by email and in person, to confirm the terms of the agreement, but never got a response.
Once they received their paycheck at the end of July, they noticed that the pay rate was well below what they were expecting. An informal resolution was attempted, but was unsuccessful, so PSU-AAUP filed a grievance. At the grievance meeting, the Professor did a very good job of describing the history of the situation and why compensation was warranted. On October 23 we received a grievance response granting the grievance and providing for appropriate compensation.
