Welcome to Spring term. For those of you who had time off, we hope it was relaxing. With vaccines on the rise and some nice weather ahead, we are feeling more hopeful these days.
Speaking of hope, we believe that we will be able to ratify our contract during Spring term, despite the many delays from administration. Be on the lookout in future emails for the details and the ratification vote.
We were also filled with optimism by President Percy’s email stating PSU will be the recipient of over $100 million from the American Rescue Plan to help support our institution. We expect this new development to drastically impact current discussions related to many of the financial challenges in our university and call on administration to immediately pause retrenchment proceedings regarding the IELP.
Also, please be sure to submit any comments regarding Article 22: Retrenchment as it pertains to the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). The current comment period is open through April 14th. Please see the Faculty Senate Website APRCA page and the section below for details. In addition, here are the links to the President’s website and the APRCA feedback forms:

Lots has been happening in both our PSU chapter and at the state level. There are multiple articles below detailing issues that our colleagues at other Oregon universities are currently dealing with. In case you missed our Winter term recap-you can read about the articles from it on the PSU-AAUP Blog.
Finally, as we move into yet another mostly remote term, we remain optimistic about our union’s continued work and the financial status of the university. Wishing you all the best this term!
