Marcelo Teson is an award-winning sound editor and film instructor with over two decades' experience in bringing media into the classroom. As the Instructional Multimedia Coordinator at PSU's Office of Academic Innovation, he provides faculty support for instructors who need to record videos for online classes, site and field visits, and more.
Marcelo's first experience with unions was as a sound editor in Hollywood when he joined IATSE Local 700 (The Motion Picture Editors Guild), where he experienced firsthand the kind of protection and security union membership could provide in an uncertain and exploitative work environment. After spending the next 15 years working in nonprofits in a right-to-work state, Marcelo is thrilled to be back in the union fold with AAUP. He knows more than ever how much a union can improve your life and your workplace, and what a liferaft unions can be after years of floating on the open seas by yourself.
You can find Marcelo getting new employees on board by facilitating New Employee Orientations for AAUP. He loves talking enthusiastically to prospective new members about the benefits of solidarity and community action, hanging out with his two cats Mittens and Princess Tupits, and taking photos on vintage film cameras around the city. |
