PIVOT/Retrenchment Resource Website

This new PIVOT/Retrenchment website is ready for members to use as a central hub for tracking and responding to Portland State’s “Plan for Institutional Vitality and Organizational Transformation (PIVOT)” and related retrenchment activity. PIVOT is PSU’s multi‑year initiative aimed at closing a projected structural deficit by 2028, building on prior budget‑cutting efforts at PSU. 

On the site, you will find curated information about the PIVOT process, including context on the administration’s plan, links to key documents, and resources to help faculty understand what is at stake for programs, workload, and jobs. The site is designed as a living resource that will be updated as new proposals, data, and timelines are released, so members can quickly see what is happening and what it means for their units. 

PSU‑AAUP members are invited to visit the site regularly, bookmark it, and share it with colleagues who may not be closely following every email or meeting. Unit reps and activists may find it especially useful as a reference point for organizing conversations in departments and for bringing informed questions and proposals back to our union leadership.
