As of this writing, our sibling union at Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls is on strike. They are a newly formed AAUP chapter (OT-AAUP) and have been working for over 550 days to bargain their contract. Their administration does not seem amenable to having to bargain with a union, let alone meeting OT-AAUP’s reasonable requests to put language in the contract about work load (we have that in several places!!), equitable distribution of pay increases, and safeguarding health insurance premiums and plans. If you are able, please go to their campus in Wilsonville and show some solidarity! They are there 8-5. Check their Facebook and Twitter pages for more updates. For those of you who were here at PSU in 2014, please remember how important solidarity is! Even an hour of your time would be appreciated. And it probably goes without saying, but don’t accept work as a replacement for striking workers!
