New Administration, Continued Advocacy

With the inauguration of a new Federal Administration and with a college professor residing in the White House, there is reason for PSU-AAUP to be optimistic. We have already seen a reversal of some of the detrimental policies and laws enacted by the Trump Administration. Presidential actions have reinstated protections for DACA recipients; asserted the administration’s commitment to science and evidence-based decision making; and commitment to providing evidence-based guidance for reopening schools and institutions of higher education. In the coming weeks and months we will be watching closely for additional funding to support higher education in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we remain optimistic, we also understand that the next four years will demand us to continue to advocate for the needs of our students, faculty, and staff at the state and federal level.
