Introducing Andrea Griggs

Hello. My name is Andrea Griggs and I work for TRIO Student Support Services on campus. As someone who believes in the importance of connecting PSU students to campus resources, I strive to do the same for myself and our colleagues on campus. Therefore, it was an easy decision for me to become an active member of PSU-AAUP and to connect with other faculty and Academic Professionals from across campus. I regularly attend our union events and have also participated  in AAUP caucuses for employees of color and parents and caregivers, which has been rewarding.  I am also very thankful for the AAUP-secured Sick Leave Bank, which allowed me to stay home with my son during the first few months of his life. Without the Sick Leave Bank, my family would have struggled financially. The Sick Leave Bank  also prevented future financial struggles by giving me the opportunity to save some of my paid leave to use when my son first entered daycare and was sick. I am a proud member of AAUP and work to inform campus colleagues about our member benefits and opportunities to connect with our union.
