Final Board of Trustees meeting before cuts can be announced

January 09, 2026 / PSU-AAUP

At UO, faculty and staff were able to organize sufficiently to push the administration to stop program elimination. With this being the final Board of Trustees meeting before the Cudd administration announces up to 216 layoffs, every colleague, student, family member, and community ally we can persuade to join us at this Board meeting might be the difference between managed decline or a united front pushing Governor Kotek to use some of Oregon’s over $1B in education stability funds to stabilize PSU. If untouched in this moment of rupture, Oregonians’ education stability fund will continue to swell, hitting $1.27B by July 2027. Frustratingly, the Cudd administration has refused to negotiate alternatives at the labor management bargaining table despite proposals around retirement incentives or voluntary phased retirements to help mitigate the need for layoffs.
