Academic Professionals received Targeted Market Increase (TMI) Notices via email from PSU Human Resources at the end of June, determining eligibility for TMI increases effective on July paychecks. TMI increases will be visible in the Employee Dashboard of MyPSU in the coming weeks. David Kinsella, VP of Collective Bargaining, has written this explainer for more details on the process.
For many APs eligible for a TMI, an average salary increase of 1.5% is disappointing. It gets us nowhere near our target salaries, and is not enough to support ourselves and our families in a region with such a high cost of living.
While this is not enough, this is also significant progress from where we were a few short years ago. July 2023 was the first implemented TMI – we did not have these increases prior to then. The first TMI was bargained in a reopener of the 2021-2024 contract. Our Collective Bargaining Team then secured APs TMIs for all four years of the new 2025-2028 contract. To help continue fighting for this and other AP issues in future contracts to improve AP pay and working conditions, join a committee or become a unit rep here.
In the meantime, if you believe your TMI to be incorrect and want to dispute it, please connect with aaup@psuaaup.net.
