Do you know students dealing with food/housing insecurity?

December 13, 2024 / PSU-AAUP

The STEP program was implemented in an effort to combat poverty, housing insecurity, and food scarcity on the PSU campus in the most equitable way possible. This federally funded program works with educational institutions and non-profit organizations to help SNAP participants gain skills, training, and work experience that will increase their ability to obtain gainful employment. STEP helps to reduce barriers to education and employment by providing funds for transportation, rent, utilities, phone bills, internet, and more. Through engaging in the program, participants will work to develop a customized pathway to success, leading to economic self-sufficiency, separation from public benefits, and degree attainment.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must be enrolled in classes at PSU (at least part-time)
  • Students must be receiving SNAP benefits
  • ***Individuals receiving TANF are not eligible to participate in STEP

If you have a student who you believe would be a good fit for this program, please have them fill out the STEP Interest Google Form. The interest form, as well as additional information, can be found on the STEP Website.
