Hollie Oakes-Miller, PCCFFAP and HECC commissioner Evelyn Kocher on the PCC strike line
PCC’s Federation of Faculty and Academic Professionals (PCCFFAP) and its Federation of Classified Employees (PCCFCE), over 2,000 faculty, academic professionals, and staff at the college’s four Portland campuses, have been on strike since March 11th for wages that keep up with inflation. PCCFFAP filed an unfair labor practice charge against PCC for not bargaining in good faith earlier this month. In those proceedings, the PCC administration is using Miller Nash, the same pricey outside firm that PSU administration used to fight the binding arbitration ruling which reinstated 10 PSU-AAUP faculty.
Per OPB, “PCC students, faculty and staff say they have already lost trust in the institution. Both unions and the college’s student government have overwhelmingly passed a vote of no confidence in PCC President Adrien Bennings’ leadership.” https://www.opb.org/article/2026/03/20/portland-community-college-tensions-rise-strike-continues/
Stand with our PCC union siblings through rallying your department to donate to their strike fund and signing up for a picket shift. Submit your department’s PCC strike line photos for the next newsletter by emailing PSU-AAUP at aaup@psuaaup.net.
